Bling your arm out

On days when I'm not rushing to leave the house (days when I don't have school or work), I love taking my time and prettify myself. Instead of rushing my make-up routine in 10-15 mins, I take my time and take 30 mins to perfect it. Instead of just quickly putting on my watch and randomly selecting a pair of earrings and shoving them into my earrings while putting on my shoes, I take my time to explore my big drawer of accessories.

I love stacking bracelets and wrapping long necklaces around my wrists as bracelets a la Olsen twins(you guys may recognize the pearl strand necklace handed down to me from my mom that I mentioned a few posts back).

In this picture, I am wearing: H&M gold-stone link bracelet, F21 pearl necklace wrapped around as bracelet, F21 gold-tone black thread bracelet, pearl necklace from my mom wrapped round as bracelet, gold-tone with beige ribbon bracelet from a local HK store.

This picture was actually taken sometime before Christmas, on a Sunday morning at brunch with my mom and sister. I love going for brunch at Dr. Generosity in Toronto, I love love love their Eggs Florentine. Hmm..just writing about it makes me crave for it already!

Bow-mania!

As hectic as my trip back to Hong Kong was, I managed to block out one full day for shopping and shopping only. Get ready for A LOT of pictures! And yes, as the title indicates, I am experiencing bow-mania!

I fell in love at first sight with this over sized bow ring!

A fluffy coin purse that I received as a Christmas gift from one of my aunts. This picture does not capture its true colour, it's sort of a peachy colour. As well as its girliness and fluffiness, I LOVE the gold hardware on this coin purse, I think this coin purse is literally 'me' in a nutshell.

This 2-strand bracelet from local HK jeweller- Chow Tai Fook is a gift from a very good friend of mine, Conrad. I wore it everyday for 2 weeks straight after receiving it! And of course, I still wear it quite often, but only on days when I'm not in a rush to leave the house.

This earring stand is so pretty and inexpensive, I just fell in love with all the details and price and decided to buy it right away. However, once agian, this picture does not capture the true colour of this earring stand, it is actually more of a magenta colour.

My new Ray-Ban aviators =) I've been longing for them for SUCH a long time that I finally bought them when I was in Hong Kong.
You can only imagine how excited I was when I saw this Faux pearl bracelet with mini-faux pearls set in gold-tone bow. Classy with a girly twist - LOVE!

I have been dying to get my hands on the CC skye leather wrap bracelets, however, I can't seem to find them anywhere when I go shopping. Thus, I opted for these CC skye bracelet- inspired ones, I bought one in black and one in white because I couldn't choose between the two. And when the price is good, why not buy both instead of regretting it later?
This wood bead necklace is actually a Christmas gift from another one of my aunts, it is not really my style, but I will figure out something to incorporate it into my outfits.

These two bangles are, once again, Christmas gifts from another aunt of mine (yes I have A LOT of aunts - big family!). This aunt knows me so well, as you can tell from her purchases. The leopard print bangle is just so fun and great for casual days and the rhinestone bracelet just adds an instant glam to any outfit at night!
Anyone who knows me well will know that I am a big Audrey Hepburn fan; therefore, there was no reason for me not to buy this necklace! I love the simple design of this necklace and the antique look to it! The Marilyn Monroe one is actually a gift for one of my very good friends, Sammy, who I'll be having a dinner date with in a few days!
There was just no reason for me not to buy this necklace. From the gold-tone to the sparkly rhinestones to the dangling high heel and of course - the BOW, this necklace just simply has my name written all over it.
Who doesn't love the French and Paris? The envelope necklace was simply too beautiful to pass up for, from the intricate details on the envelope to the hanging love letter with 'Je t'aime' written on it - I simply love it. And of course, the second necklace with the multiple charms. Once again, the Eiffel Tower, an antique coin, a heart, pearls and a pink bow - what girl can say no?

And now, of course, on one hand I am a very girly girl; on the other hand, I have my edgier side too! These earphones were just too cool to pass up for, the rhinestones on them just adds that instant oomph! This is a must-wear necklace for parties!

And yes, my inner rocker unleashes. I do, however, love how the design of this necklace is actually very feminine, combined with the edginess of the skull - I feel like this necklace describes my personality and style completely.

A group picture of all my necklaces that I acquired that day
Now...moving on to my new earrings! Bows! Bows! Bows! and Bows!

Yes, Bow-mania is the right word. And no, that word does not exist, but now it does.
I am currently having trouble trying to find a Valentine's day gift for my dbf, any suggestions?

Just because...

I remember when I first started dating my dbf, he saw a hoodie that he loved but didn't buy it. A few days later, I returned to the store to purchase it for him to surprise him. When he found it under his pillow that night, he was shocked and surprised and went through an emotional roller coaster ride (I still don't understand why). He asked me why I bought him the hoodie and what was the occasion, and he told me that he didn't do anything special to deserve a gift.
Then, I explained to him that to me, I don't need a reason to buy something for the person that I love. Being with me and making me happy already makes him more than deserve a gift.
Of course, he enjoyed and still enjoys the hoodie very much. It did drive him crazy at first because the hoodie is literally white as snow, so he found it difficult to maintain in the beginning.

As time went by, he slowly got used to my "just because" gifts for him. Of course, during my stay in Hong Kong, I spotted something that I knew immediately that I had to get him. First, a Calvin Klein black zip-up sweater (which I cannot locate right now, thus I cannot photograph it until he gets home from work). Second, it is this wallet that I just fell in love with the instant I saw it.
After I bought it, I told him that I got him something that "on the outside, it is very him, and on the inside, it is very me".

According to the SA, this style is new this season. I love the simplicity of the wallet on the outside - which is something that my dbf adores. The imprint of YSL on the leather on the inside adds that instant oomph and fun to the whole wallet. It adds such a twist to the boring old plain mens wallet.
An hour after purchasing it, I was worried that my dbf would find the inside too funky for him. However, when I presented it to him upon my arrival in Toronto, HE LOVED IT! He even loved the inside of it!
Do you believe in 'just because' gifts? Or do you only gift on "special occasions"?

Shoe-gasm

This morning, I woke up very early (I'm still jetlagged from my trip back to Hong Kong this past Christmas holiday) and I was on my new phone (Motorola Milestone) on the fashion websites app, where I discovered a post some Dolce & Gabbana shoes which caught my eye and captured my heart.

I can literally hear my friend's voice in my head saying "Don't even try to tell me that these aren't hot."
From the luxurious red velvut to the detailed gold studs, trim and buckle, this is THE shoe to make a girl feel beautiful and confident. The silhouette and height of this shoe will also make your legs look more slender and model-esque.
This shoe instantly reminds me of the curtains of a theatre or an opera house. These are THE shoes to have to add an instant OOMPH to an outfit!

P.S. More posts coming up soon to showcase the pieces I picked up during my trip to Hong Kong.

Chic and Glam party

I am so thankful that I am finally done school for the semester, the last 2 weeks of school was exhausting and...slightly painful. Last Saturday, I attended my dear bf's company Christmas dinner. Of course, a girl like me would love to have any excuse to dress up. So after digging through my closet and trying to search for something to wear...I ended up buying my whole outfit! Well, except for the shoes.

The outfit is utterly important to me, not only is it because what I wear is a reflection of myself, but also because I wanted it t be fun, young and appropriate. So, this is what I opted for:

Dress: Mendocino, Cropped jacket: Zara, Black Opaque tights, Heels: Nine West

I absolutely adore this dress, the detailed floral pattern is so feminine and the waist band just excentuates the waist line even more. The material is also stretchy, which is extremely important for a night that would consist of a meal that is equivalent to an Italian wedding (as there are many Italians at my bf's company, thus, they opted for Italian meal, which was absolutely delicious).

As the dress is strapless and on the shorter side, I opted for a pair of black opaque tights, which took me forever to find. I thought of playing around with hosiery and perhaps opt for a pair of black tights with lacey patterns, however, I felt that it would be too much on tp of the floral printed dress. Furthermore, the warmth provided by these opaque tights are more practical in this freezing Toronto weather.

For the cropped leather jacket, it was love at first sight. I was in search for a blazer (either sequined or studded) to go with this dress; however, I just didn't fall in love with any of the ones I saw. As soon as I spotted this cropped leather jacket at Zara, I knew it was the one. It's youthful and edgy, and to top it off, it's different. I will take a proper picture of it later on and do a feature post on it. The great thing about this jacket is that I can pair it with so many other outfits, dress it up, dress it down. I even wore it to work today!

*Please excuse the bathroom picture, I wanted to take a picture before we left the house and we were just rushing to leave, so I couldn't find a good spot to take a picture of the outfit with enough light and would be able to showcase my full outfit.

As for accessories, I kept it simple as I felt that my outfit was already doing most of the talking.

earrings: cheapy earrings from Hong Kong, absolutely love them though and they matched the flowers on my dress!
Watch: Movado - my birthday gift from mommy and George
Necklace: Tiffany & Co. - a gift from my dad many years ago.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday and happy holiday shopping!

Chic and Glam jewellery

To me, jewellery is the best way to accessorize any outfit, it can add an instant oomph to spark things up, which is why jewellery is my weakness. I can't stop buying them...I will be doing several posts on my jewellery collection as I have a lot....from costume jewellery, to fine jewellery, to vintage jewellery.
First off: vintage love
Above are a few of my vintage pieces. First off, gold-tone flower choker (scored from a sale at Select 18 in Hong Kong), it is a gorgeous piece and you can really feel the weight of the piece, unfortunately, I have not had a chance to wear this amazing piece as it is too loose for my neck; however, I like it pull it out of the pouch to look at it once in a while. Then a pair of silver flower earrings that I took from my grandma last Christmas when I visited her, we spent a whole night going through her jewellery that she bought when she was young (some pieces are amazing, I've been eyeing a vintage Dior brooch...but she hasn't parted with it yet...so I shall wait). Unfortunately, I still haven't had the chance to wear these earrings either, but these would look super cute with a nice summer dress or a nice day by the beach. The third piece, is a vintage cameo ring, I love it because it's a statement piece and the cameo work is impeccable. The crystals surrounding the cameo just gives it the va-va-voom. This piece adds an instant glam to any outfit. (purchased from a vintage jewellery store on Queen St. W, Toronto). Then, the tennis bracelet also from my grandma, the 3 red stones in the middle gives it a little subtle pop of colour and the marcasites throughout the bracelet just gives the whole bracelet an antique look. I have actually forgotten about this bracelet until it fell out of the pouch where I stored the flower choker. Last but not least, my absolute favourite piece, the gold chain with 3 marble-like stones (which I also acquired from a sale at Select 18 in Hong Kong).
These pieces above are the pieces that I wear the most often (as well as my Pandora charm bracelet which is not included in this pic). On the top left corner, we have a gold-tone cuff with a black stone in the middle (acquired from H&M sale), I love this piece to death, I always find myself going to this cuff. Leaning against it, is a Christmas ornament that I bought with my mom while shopping for Christmas tree ornaments at the Bay last year, I use it as a pendant. I sometimes wear it on a gold-tone chain, and sometimes on the pearl necklace photographed above. Then we have my vintage cameo ring, as mentioned above. The bow earrings are new acquisitions from Betsey Johnson, they are simply too cute to pass up. Plus, I am currently obsessing over everything bow. As for the pearl necklace, it was a hand-me-down from my mom. I absolutely adore this piece, there are so many different ways of wearing it. I wear it almost everyday, just in several different ways, from adding a pendant, to wearing it as a multistrand necklace, wear it long, or tying a knot in it, or wear it short. I will do a post later on all the different ways of wearing this magnificent pearl necklace.
That is all for now, and once again, I apologize for the delayed update.

I thought I would have more time to update over the summer since there would be no school, but boy was I wrong. Below are a few pictures from my trip to Cali, Colombia at the end of August, it was such an amazing trip. The people there were so friendly and it's such a beautiful place, the only down side was that my favourite Havaianas flipflops broke =(.

Also, I promise to update more often and with more interesting things! I have the blog themes lined up already!
