Just killing time with my sister

The other day...more like a week ago, my sister and I were bored at home....so we decided to play around with our clothes! Ever since my grandma retired 15 years ago, she has been travelling around the world for 3/4 of the time and the rest of the time, she's been out shopping ever day...so at her apartment in HK, there's ALWAYS piles and piles of new clothes and accessories and old vintage clothes and accessories from the 60s,70s and the 80s...so I also go through her piles and bring some back!

First up:
My work outfit that day - except I didn't wear heels to work, my feet would KILL if I had to stand around in those for hours.

tank top, Domino skinny jeans, teal cardigan from grandma...

My sister actually asked me to pose like this...I really don't know why because it makes my legs look shorter and wider but oh well, she was very cute when asking me to pose like this, so I did.

This sweater dress was also from my grandma, one of her vintage pieces, and so are the shoes. I've actually never worn them outside of the house...but maybe one day, I'll figure out a way to incorporate them into my usual outfits. I do picture myself wearing the sweater dress, the shoes....not so much!

Then...my cowgirl sister!

Diesel shirt - it was also the shirt that was posted in a few posts back, jeans - not sure where they're from, cowboy hat - local souvenir store in Cancun

This will be one of my future outfits for going out for lunch or dinner dates with my girlfriends...

leopard print sweater dress from grandma - found it in one of her new piles, black opaque tights, Steven Madden booties

Next up...2 of my fave pictures!

My sis is wearing a local traditional top bought at one of the stalls in the markets in Cairo, Egypt many years ago when my mom and I visited Egypt, gold-tone belt with black crystals from HK. Both of these pieces are actually mine, but I thought it would be fun to put her in my clothes hehe!
One of my bumming around outfits - for those days when I don't feel like dressing girly and dressed to the nines.

vintage Bossini plaid shirt from my grandma, black opaque tights, red surfsiders

Then...this is my sister's "going to school" look as she calls it, and no, she doesn't actually weawr this to school. My mom only lets my sister wear clothes that she wouldn't mind getting dirty or worn out quickly because my sister likes to roll in the mud with the boys as well as playing with girls.

Diesel shirt, Lacoste argyle sweater (this was originally mine, but my nanny shrunk it...so my sister inherited it), jeans
That's it for now! Going to watch America's Best Dance Crew then back to homework!

On a side note, I went shopping with my mom at the mall today, and it was sooooooo quiet with occasional screams and shouts...because the Olympic hockey finals between USA and Canada was on. Everyone was gathered around the TVs in the mall - including the SAs. And yes, I'm proud of Canada winning the game, I must say that it was a rather tight game!

Share the love

As promised, this post is all about the gifts that my loved ones received.

First off....Ralph Lauren "France" polo for dbf. He has been searching for this exact polo since April last year when he first saw it in Paris with his parents. One can only imagine how excited I was when I accidentally came across it at Holt Renfrew the other day (3 weeks prior to Valentine's day).

I, however, could not hold in my excitement....so the day after I got it...the following convo happened in the car...

Me: Oooh I got your gift yesterday! You're gonna love it!! I'm so excited for you to get it!
Him: Ooh what is it?
Me: Hmm.. you're going to have to wait till Valentine's day :)
Him: URGHHHHHHH I hate it when you do this....why did you tell me? What is it? Can I guess? Me: Aww...I'm sorry....I just got too excited...hehe...I know you're going to love it though! It's something that you've wanted for a long time!
Him: What? A new car?
Me: Err....no...
Him: Hmm...hmmm.....hmmm.....OOOOH I think I know what it is. It's that polo, isn't it? You found it?
Me: No!
Him: Hmmm....what could it be? *random guesses....* and gets frustrated
Me: *sigh*...I'll tell you...
Him: I told you I don't like surprises....sigh...no, it's okay, I know you like surprises...so I'll just wait...*pouts*
Me: okay okay, you already guessed it! It's the polo!

*PAUSE*
*BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE*
Him: Baby! You're the best!!! Hehehehehehehehe!

Moving on....gifts for my dear little sister...

We got the exact Love Lion webkin for her friend as a birthday gift a few weeks prior and when I brought it home, both her and my mom fell in love with it and they didn't want to give it away. So for Valentine's day...I picked up the exact same one for my sister, knowing how much she'll love it. It was actually the last one in store in the city! The SA also had a tough time searching for the webkinz card...I got so nervous that I was going to have to leave without it! Thank goodness that the SA found the webkinz card at last!

Above is my little sister's Pandora bracelet that I've been adding to. The initial bracelet and the key-to-my-heart charm was a birthday gift from dbf and I last year. Her second Valentine's day gift was the clear murano class with orange heart charm. She absolutely loves it!
Now....for my mom! I wanted it to be extra special. Over the past few years, my mom has been working extremely hard to provide my sister and I a more than comfortable lifestyle. She has been saving up a lot of her money by barely spending any money on herself and spending it on my sister and I instead...One day, when we were at Holt Renfrew to pick up some make-up products, we walked past the accessories section where a rack of silk scarves hung. She stroked one of them and said "You know Laura, I really like scarves...." then she walked away. That triggered me to get her a scarf...and since she always provides my sister and I with the best things, I decided that she deserves the best as well - a Hermes scarf.

The orange bag with a hand-made card

The orange box - my mom still keeps the scarf wrapped up with the brown ribbon around it because she really loves the elegance of the orange box with the brown ribbon.

H comme histoire

That's it for now...I must go back to studying for French... This month is going to be major crunch time for me!

BFF day out!

Today was such an amazing day spent with one of my best friends, Carol. We haven't seen each other for 2 years but nothing's changed, I guess that's because we have long late night phone calls often. We went all over the city today, first off, dropped by Tiffany's to get her necklaces fixed, then we went for Moroco Chocolat for late lunch and dessert - for fellow Torontonians or when you guys visit Toronto, this is a must-go spot. I love bringing my friends there. From the elegant decor to the chocolates, mm delicious! Then, it was nice walking around Holts - there was only 2 Alexander Mcqueen scarves left - apparently everyone bought a ton of them ever since the death of the designer, R.I.P. I wish I went earlier so I could've gotten one because they only had green ones left...and I'm not the biggest green fan. Then, of course - the Eaton Centre for a bit. After, we dropped by my work place to pick up another Pandora charm for Carol since I gave her a bracelet with 3 charms on it today. Afterwards, we went to a sample sale in Richmond Hill where my friend scored a pair of True Religions for $150! Afterwards, we went to Go For Tea for dinner and bubbletea - absolutely delicious as well!
I haven't gone out with my friends in such a long time, since I'm always busy with work or school, so today was extra nice and extra special :)
Okay, no more boring you guys with words....picture time.
My mom bought me a new leather jacket over the weekend and I was trying to think of ways to wear it...Then the inspiration came from one of my fave bloggers, Rachel from litlstrawberry! I love the way she wears shorts in the winter over tights, so I tried that...and I liked it!.

Danier leather motorcycle jacket, Abercrombie tank, JET cover-up/top, F21 belt, white Zara denim cut-off shorts, black opaque tights, JB Martin patent leather boots.
Accessories:

On my left hand, Movado watch, vintage ring from grandma (yes I love digging through my grandma's jewellery box! You never know what you'll find! )
On my right hand - my signature Pandora bracelets!
My Pandora bracelets - on the left, is the 2-tone one, so it's silver with a gold clasp - it was a gift from DBF for Valentine's day...except he didn't add any charms to it...so I had to haha. I already have it planned out and put some charms on hold and will pick them up later this week! Can't wait to make it my dream Pandora bracelet before the price increase!
On the right, it started off as a birthday gift from one of my friends 2-3 years ago, there were 3 charms when she gifted it to me...then the number of charms slowly increased due to my lovable friends and DBF...honestly I think I only bought 4 of the charms myself...I feel so lucky!
Stay tuned for an update on what gifts I received and gifted on Valentine's day!

Chic and Glam room

One reason why I love weekends is that I get to dress my little sister and trust me, dressing her is no easy task because she is very picky. She doesn't like anything too girly yet she does like that slight feminine touch, yes, cliche. My mom really loved this outfit that I picked out for my sis this past Sunday when we went for dim-sum and watched Avatar, so she took a picture of my sis' outfit.

Here my little sis is wearing: Diesel white blouse with purple swirly patterns (which cannot be seen in this pic), Gap Kids brown corduroy blazer, Burberry skirt, black wool tights, and she wore black patent ballet flats.

My room has been re-decorated since I moved back home for school this year, although my room is a bit messy right now, I still love the decor around my room.

My inspiration board - mainly filled with pictures of Nicole Richie and Twiggy and a picture of my sis and Penelope Cruz. I put those pictures up 2 years ago and I still love them to this day.

I love that hanging dress, it was a Christmas gift from one of my best friends a few years ago. It is a bulletin board but it is so pretty that I don't want to pin anything on it, so I just hang it on my closet door as decor.

I love this bookshelf to death, although it is just a simple plain white Ikea bookshelf, I love the books on it. This is my fun bookshelf, filled with my old yearbooks, fashion related books, girly fiction books - yes the whole Shopaholic series too, historic fiction books and other fiction books that are leisure reads. My school and "not so fun" books are in another shelf along with a bunch of my magazines, which my dbf so kindly arranged by name and date.

I have had this bed for 6 1/2 years and I still love it do death. Yes, it's girly, from the swirls on the baseboard to the pink canopy. My mom has offered to buy me a bigger bed (this is a twin size bed right now), but I love this bed too much to swap it for anything.

On the right is a print of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's, this was a Christmas gift from dbf and I finally had it put up a few days ago. I love it! On the left is my multicolour polka-dotted curtain, it's so fun and adds a splash of colour to my room. I picked it 4 years ago and eventhough I have grown up and matured...I still enjoy the cuteness and quirkiness of my curtain.

Underneath the Audrey Hepburn print is my dresser - the top is really messy right now, which is why I didn't photograph it. The knobs on the dresser are really pretty though. Stacked in the corner is a few boxes that I bought from Ikea which I use to keep random small things. I was babysitting my sister one night and we got bored, so we painted and decorated the boxes to add a splash of colour.

Valentine's day post coming up! Hope everyone is enjoying their week!
